This past weekend saw the ExCeL Centre in London host the grand finals for the 2024 PUBG Mobile Esports Global Championship. The event ran across three days and we were invited to experience all that PUBG Mobile had to offer!
The grand finals of the PUBG Mobile 2024 Global Championship brought the world’s top PUBG Mobile teams together to battle it out for the ultimate chicken dinner prize. This was the final hurdle of a gruelling competitive season that saw 48 teams whittled down to just 16, and only these 16 teams from across the globe had the opportunity to compete for the championship title and a share of the $3 million dollars prize pool. The 16 teams that made it to the finals were:
4Merical Vibes
Alpha7 Esports
Dplus
DRX
Falcon Force
Guild Esports
Influence Rage
Insilio
Natus Vincere
Nigma Galaxy
Regnum Carya Bra Esports
Team Spirit
Tong Jia Bao Esports
The Vicious LATAM
ThunderTalk Gaming

After 3 days and 18 matches filled with intense battles, the South Korean esports organisation Dplus clinched the 2024 PUBG Mobile Esports Global Championship title, and it couldn't have been any closer! Dplus managed to emerge as champions by just 1 point over Türkiye’s Regnum Carya Bra (RCB) Esports. Both teams had an equal number of 'winner winner chicken dinner' (WWCD) points, but the 'placement points' racked up by Dplus saw them triumph despite having less eliminations/'kill points' than RCB. Securing a comfortable third place was UAE's Nigma Galaxy with 137 points, followed by Brazil's Influence Rage with 117 points. Unfortunately it was a poor showing for UK's Guild Esports as they came in last place with a total of 44 points.
As well as spectating the matches, attendees were able to get involved with several activities at the event. There were numerous areas for photo opportunities, one of which was with a mightily impressive Frostborne dragon guarding the championship trophy. Fans also had the opportunity to get photos with some amazing PUBG cosplayers as well as other PUBG themed sets throughout the day.
The 2024 PUBG Mobile Esports Global Championship Grand Finals event also had an area to play PUBG Mobile. The area was consistently busy with gamers trying out the game for the first time, as well as gamers looking to show off their skills. We were unlucky enough to be playing against some very good players and got well and truly defeated. Definitely a skill issue. All of the interactive stalls at the event was part of a trail; visiting each one allowed you to collect a unique stamp for each location and once you have collected all the stamps you were gifted with a goodie bag of PUBG Mobile merchandise.
Overall the event was a great experience. It felt like it had a good production budget supporting it, with an impressive stage and activities for attendees to enjoy. The Gamer Guide was invited as Creators/Press but it was an event that was open to the public, with a reasonable ticket price of £12.00. Definitely one to keep an eye on if you have the opportunity to attend a PUBG Mobile event in the future!
